Self-Care Until It’s No Longer A Rebel Move

Many of us feel stretched to meet the needs of work and family to the point where we lose our essential practices in self-care. This is not only creates social imbalances, it keeps us from our best lives.

I had an epiphany last week. There have been a number of times in my life when taking care of my needs was frowned upon to the point where I questioned the value in it and stopped doing it. Each time, eventually, enough was enough, and I started taking the time to care for myself. When I did, it created a major cascade and energy shift in my life. The things aligning with my best self came into focus and things that were not became less important in my life. At times, this meant some major upheaval.

As much as I enjoy a rollercoaster, these were some of the harder lessons that I have had throughout my life. There was a lot of struggle and pushing through hard moments when there could have been daily doses of compassion that my mind and body required.

I have regular practices in my life now that help me:

  • feel my best both mentally and physically
  • tune into my intuition
  • release the static energy of the day to day
  • process my feelings
  • question my tough and painful thoughts and emotions to find my way to clear skies once again
  • inspire creativity and help me make better decisions.

Self-care practices are necessary as they help me continue with strength and vitality and they help me show up as my best self in my life.

Nature connection is one of my best self-care practices because it is adaptable and all of what I have mentioned above can happen as I nature connect. Essentrics, dance, and other physical exercise each day is another way I keep ensure I feel my best in my body throughout the day. I am a bit of a foodie, and I do love small doses of chips and ice cream but overall, at least 80% of the time, eating healthy whole foods keeps me grounded and gives me steady energy.

What are some of your regular self-care practices? Do you sometimes struggle to make them a priority? Stay tuned if you want to show up as your best by making time for the practice of daily nature connection.
