haiku my cat wrote: I call it “catku”

Iggy, the creator of many a Catku

My cat has his own Facebook page. When he’s online, he tends toward writing?áabout his feelings and experiences in Haiku form.?áIn honour of a true full “spring/summer” day, complete with the window left open for over 24 hours, following are some examples of his work.

a spring-time sleep

full of cat-nip and water

tomorrow, I dance

morning, late rising

no sun today just the clouds

resting in my nest

Mother: ticka-tick

Tick Tick Tick. Typing so much

As I sleep, so sound.

crunch of my pellets

listen: the traffic goes by

out there, in the sun

I was in the sun

but it has shifted away

warmth stays in my fur

the other eye winks

Do you think Iggy could teach Little Ricky the rules of haiku writing? I bet he’s just bursting with great haikus as well. The difference being, of course, that cats tend to be serene and meditative, while ferrets only stop moving when they’re asleep. Ok, make that – could Iggy teach Cami the rules of haiku writing? She might – just might – be willing to give it a try if she’s not too busy ruling her world…

  2. I’ll try to pass on Iggy’s inspiration to LR and Cami… I’ll teach them the basics of Haiku, and see what sort of Catku and Ferku they might come up with!

Ferku… I imagine would, indeed, be pretty frenetic in nature.

Cami. Hmm… that kitty always has an opinion. Perhaps she’d like to express herself in poetry, too. 😉

He looks so healthy and happy! What a treat to see him go public like this!

  4. He’s a ferocious poet, a mange-er of an Iggles.

    So amazing, and always inspiring.

He’s got his little “things” he likes to do around here; I think it all makes him happy. Eating plants, sitting on The Table, writing his Catku… etc.

    Drinking from Drippy, The Tap.

    Aw… snuggies.
