Join me at Fleurbain for the LAB Series.

On August 30th and 31st we are all about Lemon balm, otherwise known as Melissa officinalis.

What you might like to know about this herb ahead of time:

Lemon balm:

* is a great tasting herb, so lemony, but it is actually a part of the mint family.

* improves mood, and helps with the less glamorous moments of irritability and forgetfulness.

* can work to relieve stress headaches, heartache, aids digestion, helps you sleep and diminishes seasonal depression.

* is a famous antiviral that is effective against cold sores and shingles.

* can be used by folks of all ages.

* and to top it off, it is a beautiful perennial in Quebec!

At Fleurbain I will share with you the winning, synergistic combinations of lemon balm with other herbs.  We will discuss who should not be taking it in large quantities.  And we will experiment with a plethora of recipes used for refreshment and cosmetic purposes.

There are three opportunities to come to the Lemon balm LAB.  Preregistration is appreciated.

Please send me an email at: fleurbain@gmail.com.

Thursday, August 30th  4:00 – 5:30 p.m. or 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Or

Friday, August 31st      4:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are entirely transferable, so if you want to treat a friend to a class, you can! Perfect for out-of-town guests to make their own souvenir of Montreal.

If you have your own paints, or want an excuse to buy them, there is an option to bring your own supplies. Enquire if this interests you… nhen@videotron.ca

Cost for one class with everything supplied is $35. Cost for six summertime classes, with everything supplied, is $180 (savings of $30). For a special-special-special trial offer, this Tuesday July 3, we are offering the drop-in class for only $25, all inclusive!

Natasha Henderson, Montreal

Over the last few weeks I have made a conscious effort to change my diet. I have been nourishing myself with good food, learning which foods I have sensitivities to, and talking through the entire process with a supportive group of people all doing the same thing. I have lost about ten or so pounds, have lost inches from my waist, and feel like a zillion bucks. How much is a zillion? It is a lot.

The supportive benefits of this experience are untold. I am energised and educated. I am empowered. I have not done this alone; I would not have known where to find trustworthy information. My friend (and yours!) Tammy the Clinical Herbal Therapist has spent years in research and educating herself on this, as well as other health-related subjects. How fortunate we are that she can help us!

I am currently at the stage where I can reintroduce foods into my diet. Who would have thought a yellow pepper would suddenly be so zingy? I have a sensitivity to peppers. I will, therefore try to eliminate them from my diet. Easy to figure this out!

Having learned new recipes over the last few weeks, old standbys that I had been accustomed to buying and eating daily are surprisingly simple to replace. I didn’t think that I could live without cheese. This is one of the things that I will soon be re-introducing. I am looking forward to the experiment, and hope that I am not sensitive to cheese. However if I am… I will still be able to feed myself!

I have learned something new: Organic pumpkin seed butter is my friend.

I wholeheartedly recommend the next Nourishment series, starting up this upcoming Monday the 16th of April. Email Tammy at Fleurbain@gmail.com to register, or for more info.

Felt sushi... higher in fibre

Wanted to get in on Four Weeks of Felt (aka I Love Felt) last time? Well, here is your opportunity!

cutest credit card holder EVER

In Four Weeks of Felt, students will learn how to make felt in the wet-felting process.

We will make:

* a flat project (the ever-popular scarf!)

* a simple form that can be crafted into a cell-phone case or small purse or other nifty little object

* a larger, more complex form using a resist technique (either a larger purse or a vase/vessel, or a tea-cosy)

* jewelry, practical and decorative shapes and little objects (including felt sushi!)

Classes will be held in Fleurbain Tuesday nights, March 27 to April 17, 6:30-9pm. Cost of the four weeks, including all materials and taxes, is $160.

Instructor Natasha Henderson is a visual artist, painter, crafter of wool scarves, puppets, and cat-toys. She loves making things by hand and teaching others how to do so, too. She has years of experience teaching workshops in painting, felt-making, and other crafts. Her work (including felt scarves) can be seen in various galleries and shops, as well as being available online.

We are close to McGill and Place des Arts metros, with plenty of street and paid parking nearby.

Tea’s on!

It is the middle of winter.

Energy is a little low, “sigh…”

The weather is a little intimidating with all the snow and ice and icy cold mountains of slush.  It’s not just the ubiquitous boots, but the whole experience of walking down the street makes people scream, “Ugg!”

We see this and so, we thought we would make it a little easier to do something good for you!

All courses starting in February are half-price, even if they span into March.

Yup, half-price!  🙂  We knew this would add a little warmth to your winter!

Here is a list of what is going on in the next couple weeks.
