Nature Connection Offers Self-Connection

“Within nature connection,
the mind and body
receive a break or pause,
and the whole person can find a
more profound sense of self.”

Tamara Schmidt

Fleurbain = fleur + urbain

Fleurbain is a creative, inspired life, a verdant life, especially in areas where there can be a nature deficit, like cities. This website is for people looking to find balance and inspiration through nature connection, experiential herbalism, tailored nutrition, and the beauty found in nature.

Resources created by Tamara Schmidt help cultivate a love for yourself, positivity and joy. They help strengthen connections with the more-than-human-world. Focusing on self-love and nature connection ultimately reduces stress, increases creativity, improves mental and physical health, and relationships.

We are always in the company of nature

We are nature

In the last number of years, studies have shown that we benefit from taking our natural selves to natural spaces on a regular basis. Fleurbain describes the ways we connect with nature, especially when we are in the city. It’s an inspired form of self-care, connecting to beauty in nature and allowing awe found in nature connection to breathe new energy into our day to day lives.

People improve their mental and physical health by deepening their connections to the natural world.  As an experiential herbalist, I guide people through first-hand experiences with plants and trees.  I’m often called to work with people in the urban setting, helping them strengthen nature connection in cities where there can be a nature deficit.
So much can be achieved, for everyone on the planet, through simple nature connections.

Hi! I’m Tamara Schmidt and I’m an Herbal Therapist, and Certified Forest Therapy Guide.

I am keen on helping people strengthen their connection with nature so they can feel their best.

Strong relationships with the more-than-human-world have a ripple effect benefiting all beings.

Art and Spirit in Nature

In my practice of nature connection, I may take a photo. These images carry the spirit of the moment, inspired by awe, often imparting joy, and beauty.

Nature connection is a radical form of self-care.

This is especially true when I am experiencing big shifts in my life. Long walks outdoors, watching the birds, listening to the wind, heart connections with plants and trees, making herbal tea, noticing something unusual in nature and allowing myself to take in the moment is an expansive practice of self-care that helps me to shift my mood, open my mind, and find myself in a better space to take on my day.
